I LOVE SUMMER!

Ok, now that my childish show of support for the best season ever is out of the way, I guess I need to explain why I love summer so much. Maybe that will keep people from harassing me about how much I've been neglecting this blog. Maybe. Of course, summer comes with the added disadvantage of working a lot, but I feel like that could be a satisfactory trade for the extra time I get to make movies and to buy way more used records than I actually need. Anyway, this is my list of reasons I love summer:

1. More time to make films. Or, at least, to pretend that I'm a serious filmmaker so people will call me an "artiste." With an "e". Don't forget the "e;" it's very important.

2. I go to Cape Cod at the beginning of each summer, and sneak around the Provincetown International Film Festival pretending that I belong there. Actually, it's not that difficult to belong there, I just never build it into my Iron-Clad Vacation Schedule. But it's always handy to see what's being submitted to the bigger festivals-that's how I found my current favorite movie ("(500) Days of Summer").

3. Listening to music really loudly without worrying about annoying my roommates (parents don't count, they did create me, after all).

4. Having time to actually watch all of the movies I say I'm going to watch...like "Marnie" and all of those other Hitchcock films I said I was going to watch back in the spring.

Yeah, so, maybe those are pathetic reasons, but I love summer anyway. Particularly the sleeping in and the spending all day running around in the hot sun with a video camera parts!
