Blogs

Wow! I can't believe that SIFF is right around the corner...I've been so busy with the tedium of working and searching for very specific Firewire cables and whatnot that it's sort of snuck up on me. Way to make me feel neglectful, SIFF! Oh, well, it happens. So, I'm really excited that SIFF is on Friday the 13th this year, because, oddly enough, that's frequently one of my luckiest days. Maybe that means that SIFF will be even better than usual this year? Who knows...working on a film, acted in a film, working, no time to make the post any longer. See you in 20 days!

Ok, now that my childish show of support for the best season ever is out of the way, I guess I need to explain why I love summer so much. Maybe that will keep people from harassing me about how much I've been neglecting this blog. Maybe. Of course, summer comes with the added disadvantage of working a lot, but I feel like that could be a satisfactory trade for the extra time I get to make movies and to buy way more used records than I actually need. Anyway, this is my list of reasons I love summer:

In keeping with our tradition of watching a lot of movies (why have a DVD player if you're not going to use it, right?), my roommate and I are planning an Alfred Hitchcock marathon for sometime in the relatively near future (that's our way of saying that, in actual fact, we have no idea when, exactly, we are going to hold the aforementioned marathon). We do have a few ideas, however, about which movies we shall watch.

Yeah, so I know that it's been a new year for nearly a month now, but I've been neglecting this blog for a while now, so this is my first entry of 2010. I'm meeting plenty of cool people who make films, and may even have some ideas brewing in the back of my head for a film of my own-more details to come as I figure them out for myself!

I've recently found myself enjoying jazz music immensely while I do my homework-it's quite a contrast from Rebel Alliance and their ilk, I am aware, but it works for chilling out on rainy afternoons while reading my absurd pile of Mass Comm. homework. This newfound love of jazz has led me to think about how awesome it is to have sound in movies..."The Jazz Singer" the first "talkie," jazz, it kind of works!

OK, so I'm aware that my title for this entry sounds more like an ad on a dating website than a SIFF blog post, but whatever. The point is that I am now at school in the remarkably creative Burlington, VT area, and I feel sure that I am going to meet some very talented new filmmakers (of course, it doesn't hurt that I keep telling anyone who asks that I want to be a documentary filmmaker. It definitely helps the cause to say that). I haven't really met any yet, but the year has just begun--insert evil laugh here.

Hey, everyone, I just wanted to let you know that I'm still here, and, even though SIFF 2010 isn't until summer, I want to encourage you all to continue making films, and to consider submitting them to SIFF! I'm still excited about SIFF '09, and it was a month ago. I'm going to keep my eyes open for new films I think you all should see, and I hope to see you in August!

Hey all,

I'm so psyched to say that I have a group of young film-makers in the metrowest (Boston) area that have put together a short film, and will be submitting it to SIFF this year.

Can't wait to see everyone there!

Hey, Everyone, I just wanted to let you know that I've made a really awesome new promo DVD that I will post shortly, and I'm hoping to get that to a pretty wide audience. The Senior Project people all seemed pretty impressed with it, anyway.
I'd also like to say "Hey" to anyone from Mr. Dils's AP English class, because if your reading this, that means you're interested in SIFF, which is pretty cool.
I just saw the countdown in the corner, and SIFF is really close! That's pretty exciting, huh?

Hola, me llamo Darren

For those of you who <3 Youtube, I've been uploading videos to our Youtube account in preparation to put them on the site. I have the first few up now, I'm limited by a 10 minutes or less rule, so if yours is that long it will not likely be uploaded, sorry! But you could try to put it up on this site by making your account. I've also added some favorites which may be of interest to those of you involved in film.
